Håkon
My understanding was that this combination should work. However, I cannot watch any encrypted channels using this card. I've verified that the "smartcard" works with the cable network decoder box. Is there any way to figure out what does not work? Is it the CAM, CI or software? Is it so that really does not work? If so I managed to waste a lot of money Håkon Quote Link to comment
Moses
as far as I read, CI/CAM should work with DVBViewer... but I'm not really sure... the best thing to do is, to test the card, CAM and Smartcard with the software that was shipped with the card. If that works, something is wrong within DVBViewer and one can investigate here... if it doesn't work it could be that your card doesn't like your CAM or your CAM doesn't like your Smartcard... Thanks, The problem with the accompanying software is that needs a working tvtv subscription to work. Since I am in Norway the tvtv subscription is a bit pointless and at the moment I'm not willing to spend 30 euro on it just to check if it might work. Is there any other way to find out if the CI/CAM is even recognized? Håkon Quote Link to comment
Moses
I think the DVBViewer doesn't support MMI ( = the CAM Menu) for your cards... so it's a bit of a problem here... If you want to be sure, you could try to give the card back and go for a TT S2-3200 or Skystar HD which are supported by DVBViewer very good and the company is talking to the devs here.. adriankendall
TT S2-3200 or Skystar HD which are supported by DVBViewer I have never found the satelco DVB-S2 card CI to work with DVBViewer, tv central the shipped software recognised the cam I have. I use KNC1 drivers as they tend to realease updates a bit earlir than Satelco and there is a dll file KNCBDACTL you need. This is the dialogue i had with Hackbart at the time... The attached dll is the one from knc1. You need a couple of third party dlls (MFC80.dll etc), which can be found in the www. I'm sorry that i can not give you more informations about it, since i personally did not got the dll working (since i do not have any information which dlls are missing). Anyway since the sdk is similar to the one from technotrend i'm quite sure that once the dll is working the ci should be also working inside the DVBViewer. I asked for this dll and info from KNC1, Satelco & Odsoft who write the drivers for these guys and didn't get any useful help. Moses advice is best if your sticking with DVBViewer buy the hardware that is best supported by the software. Unfortuneatly and expensive lesson to learn!! AK KNCBDACTRL.zip Quote Link to comment
Lars_MQ
It does help, if you install the current Globetv software from KNCOne first. It does install in the beginning all the needed runtime dll vom MS first. After that just cancel the setup, cause nothing more is needed. You should use the latest BDA drivers for the KNC and the mentioned KNCBDACTL.dll. The CI itself does work, though not with every CAM, the alphacrypt cam does work for me. another CAM from Technisat I tried wasn't even recognized, but this CAM did not work with other cards either or made big time trouble. MMI does not work. And jugding from the SDK, I doubt if more than one KNCOne card with a CAM will work propperly. Quote Link to comment
adriankendall
Thanks for the globetv tip lars, I tried this and still nothing changes for the irdeto cam I have which was detected by TVcentral using the WDM drivers. As you say looks like some CAMs are more problematic. Still if alphacrypt works this would give me the irdeto decryption I require. Thanks AK Quote Link to comment
