Lars_MQ
In the betasection of the membersarea is the beta of the DVBViewer Starter. The DVBViewer starter is a little tool you can use to start the DVBViewer with the remote control. Installation: Extract the program into the DVBViewer Programfolder and start it. You need the remote inputplugins Version 1.1.1. Supported Remotes/Cards: - FireDTV - Technotrend - X10 - Winlirc The handling is kept simple and uses similar elements like the DVBViewer Inputoptions part. You select the location of the DVBViewer.exe, select one or more plugins and learn for each plugin a key. in deutsch Quote Link to comment

Björn Rosberg
Really nice little program. I have been looking for such a tool for my FireDTV remote for some time now (the RC app supplied with the driver simply does not work). I have one problem though. The starter application crashes every time I start DVBViewer. I have the starter tool installed in its own directory with its own plugin-directory (as described in the germen forum). This was the only way I was able to do any settings inside the tool. Quote Link to comment
cactus-online
Any chance of getting this to work with MCE Remote I took the similar program for mediaportal. Put the mptray.exe in the DVBViewer program directory und make a copy of your DVBViewer.exe. Name this copy Mediaportal.exe. Run the program. Be happy. Quote Link to comment

The application does not go to tray. you can stop it using mptray /kill and unregister it: mptray /unregister Kapa Quote Link to comment

moyo
Hi all, I have downloaded and extracted DVBViewer starter application into my Program Files\DVBViewer folder. When I run the application, all controls are disabled excluding "Autostart when windows starts" checkbox. Anyway, button "Apply settings" is disabled as well so I am not able to do anything and use this simple, but for me useful tool. Any idea, why the controls are disabled? OS: WinVISTA Ultimate Edition w/o SP1. Thanks in advance. Edited September 13, 2008 by moyo Quote Link to comment

Gioxy
@moyo & Zonekiller To configure DVBViewer Starter you simply have to stat it when DVBViewer is not running... BTW, you can assign the same remote button you have assigned to exit DVBViewer Quote Link to comment

Gioxy
unless your prepared to explain Exactly how to get the thing set up and working dont bother saying anything. Hey buttonsNI., what's the matter with you? My intention was only to help other people that like me encountered this "problem" (if DVBViewer is started then DVBViewer Starter config is freezed up...) and not to solve all problem you can encounter with this app nor to write a complete manual or "how to" about it... Am I wrong? ...or are you jealous because I don't reply to your (until now) unasked problem? Please try to be more polite with people you don't know about... as far as im concerned noone has explains the relationship between Winlirc in the settings in the starter and the firedtv remote plugin which im am using ..because the starter does not see the firetv remote plugin in its settings...only winlirc And please, how can you be sure that moyo & Zonekiller (or anyone else) are using a firedtv remote? Think about it: in one post you made 2 coarse mistake instead of simply asking for help on your prob on a new tread... why? Quote Link to comment

Zonekiller
And please, how can you be sure that moyo & Zonekiller (or anyone else) are using a firedtv remote? Yes I'm a FireDtv owner. What's the better way to start DVBViewer with my remote? I'm trying "starter.exe" and "mptray.exe" but they don't work properly. - I just put starter.exe in DVBViewer main folder, then I run the application but it still freezing. DVBViewer is not running. - mptray.exe doesn't go to tray and I'm not sure about register/unregister command. In german section I read some post about config files but I don't understand them. What happens if you run mptray /logthere should be mptray.log file in folder where the exe is. could you post the log here. I'm sorry I can't post a log cos It doesn't start. any chance to have a little tip? Thanks Edited October 4, 2008 by Zonekiller Quote Link to comment
Zonekiller
Sorry for this post but I can't edit the previous one (is there a timer?). This is the log of mptray: 04/10/2008 18.14.54 Another instance of this application is already running I still can't see it on the tray but it's running. Nothing to do with kill command. Quote Link to comment
Gioxy
Nothing to do with kill command. If you have XP and are confident with the Windows Registry you can try to delete the "DVBViewer Starter" line from "HKEY_LM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" and restart the PC... This should give you the chance to retry to configure it correctly next time you start the app... Quote Link to comment
Zonekiller
Hi Gioxy, I found out a way to run starter.exe without the freezing problem reading the german thread in this forum. Look at this: - DVBVStarter |- Plugins | |- ttremote.dll | |- ttremote.ini |- dvbvstart.ini |- starter.exe |- ttBdaDrvApi_Dll.dll Now I can run the program and edit preferences but dvbvstarter only lists winliric so... what should I do to set it up with my firedtvremote? That's the Techno trend configuration and I think I should replace the "TT" files with the firedtv ones. The point is: is not easy! this is the dvbvstart.ini to edit: [Winlirc] path= [Main] StartAfterStandby=0 DVBViewer=C:\Program Files\DVBViewer\DVBViewer.exe # hier euren Programmpfad eintragen Parameters=-f # -f für Vollbild, sonst löschen [Plugins] 1=Technotrend Remote [Keys] Technotrend Remote=TT Remote.140 and this is the ttremote.ini [TTRemote] Antirepeat=125 DeviceTyp=1 MacHi=53340 MacLo=6591985 In the first post of this thread firedtv remote is listed as working... but what's the right way to get it work? thanx Quote Link to comment
Moses
copy the *.dll from the firedtv plugin you'll find in the membersection (the plugin for DVBViewer, you most probably have that already) to the plugins folder of dvbstarter. Maybe you'll need another *.dll, that you'll find in the directory of the firedtv driver (C:\Program Files\Digital Everywhere), I think it had somethink with "fire" in it's name. Quote Link to comment
Zonekiller
copy the *.dll from the firedtv plugin Yeah it's the "firedtvremote.dll" wich I'm using but DVBViewer starter seems to hate it. Maybe you'll need another *.dll, that you'll find in the directory of the firedtv It should be "FiresatApi.dll". I put it in the same plugins folder and nothing changes... but dvbvstarter freezes again: DOH! Quote Link to comment
Moses
no, Firestatapi.dll should not go into the plugins folder (sorry, I didn't make that clear). Firestatapi.dll has to be in the same directory as the dvbstarter.exe. Quote Link to comment
Zonekiller
It's ok, I didn't move that one, I simply copied it. I wonder what's the right dll... Anyway I can't find the "Digital Everywhere" folder in the path "C:\Program Files\", so I tried the only one with "fire" in its name. Quote Link to comment
Zonekiller
I can't find any dll. I'm afraid that's not the right way. I sent some Pm to a couple of you but no replies. Quote Link to comment
Moses
Ok, here is what I did: - created a folder "dvbviewerstarter" on C:\Program Files. - Then extracted the starter.exe there - copied "firesatapi.dll" from DVBViewer folder there - Created a folder "Plugins" inside this folder - copied firedtvremote.dll there then I closed down DVBViewer (this step seems necesary!!!) and ran dvbstarter. And I got the firedtv plugin in the list, could select it, could select the right firedtv box and learn a button. Interesstingly I didn't manage to let dvbstarter run DVBViewer... it didn't even help to move the whole thing back to the DVBViewer folder (like said in the documentation on the first page of this thread). I don't know what went wrong there on my system... maybe you'll have more luck. Quote Link to comment
Zonekiller
You are great! I moved "dvbviewerstarter" folder from dvbv folder to C:\Program Files and now everything is OK. DVBViewer starts when I push the power button on my remote. Thanks x 100000! I don't know why you can't run dvbv on your system but it works here. Quote Link to comment
Zonekiller
Eh eh eh this is endless... starter.exe works great but if I close DVBViewer (using the remote power button or dvbv main menu) it crashes! Quote Link to comment

CiNcH
i am trying to be nice when i ask this ? You better be. If nobody can help you then nobody can help you. Bottom line... i have it working from within the DVBViewer folder (not starters own folder) Why? Starting the Starter from the DVBViewer directory and sharing some files with the DVBViewer may not be a good idea. Make an independent folder for the Starter as suggested and put all required files in there. I have it working with TT (LTxbox as well). No crash at all. So maybe some bad Firesat-API handling.
