Hauppauge Remote

Recommended Posts

DVBViewer_IR.zipI am very pleased with my DVBViewer adapted Hauppauge remote control (the new remote with 44 buttons) so I thought I'd share it with whoever wants a copy.

I am using all buttons on the remote except the teletext buttons, so the Pause, Play, FF, Stop etc etc buttons at the top of the remote control the same functions in DVBViewer.

Channel -/+ and Channel numbers control Channel Favorites only, Pictures = OSD Clock, Radio = myWeather, Music = Aspect Stretch Reset, Home = OSD Favorites List, Videos = OSD Recordings List, Guide = OSD Timeline

Enjoy,

Fantastic work Tim!

One small query; when I press the power button, it attempts to open Wintv which I dont use as I much prefer DVBViewer. Is there any way this button could open DVBViewer?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi,

On my remote the green power button shuts down DVBViewer and the "TV" button starts DVBViewer. You can disable WinTV from responding to IR commands by editing irremote.ini using Notepad. In Notepad, select Edit, then Find, and enter the text [wintv7], click "Find Next". When you see "[wintv7]", delete it and all the text below it until you see a line starting with the character [. Save your irremote.ini file and restart your IR.

If you have Wintv6 installed, do the same as above, but search using [wintv6].

Alternatively, you could uninstall WinTV, as it is but junk, but make sure you leave the drivers for your TV card hardware and the IR program. I use the WinTV-CI for encrypted TV so I prefer to leave Wintv installed as I think the CI module needs WinTV7 installed to work happily.

Merry Christmas,

Tim,

Thanks for the incredibly quick reply! I have followed your instructions and it is now working as you describe. I was given a Logitech harmony remote for crimbo and am using the hauppauge to control DVBViewer and then using it [the hauppauge] to 'teach' the logitech - maybe a bit long winded but it seems to work. I hope to do away with the miriad of remotes for tv, av receiver, amplifier etc and so am really grateful for tour postings.

I don't mean to hound you but there is one other gremlin I've found with using the hauppauge:-

Sometimes {not constantly} when selecting videos to view recordings, pressing OK to play the selected item causes it to be deleted. I dont know if this is something with the remote or with the dvb prog. If you do try to replicate this be sure to use unimportant recordings as they seem to be permanently deleted and do not appear in recycle bin.

Thanks again for all you've done.

Happy New Year

Steve

Hi Steve,

I haven't had the problem you describe. I'm not that knowledgeable regarding DVBViewer, but I would guess that this is a bug in the software. If the remote was giving a command to delete when 'OK' was pushed, then that would be happening to me also since we have the same files, and it isn't. I once got some strange behaviour from the remote (Push mute and sometimes get pause instead). I changed the remote batteries and the problem disappeared, so maybe weak batteries result in strange signals?

If new batteries don't fix it, try starting a new post with an appropriate title and someone may have a solution for you.

Good luck,

Tim

I've made a few improvements to the remote configuration. All buttons except one (the small 'enter' button, next to Subcc) are being used.

If anybody knows the appropriate code to enable use of the enter button described above, please let me know.

Hope this useful,
