DVBServer.exe to stream to a DVBviewer client over the internet.

Hi

 

I am trying to setup the DVBServer.exe to stream to a DVBViewer client over the internet.

 

server location uk

client location north america

 

uk server all set up for normal use.

installed DVBViewer onto client machine in north america.

 

on client pc:

options>hardware - no devices shown as expected. should i need to select a unicast option here? im totally confused.

 

is what i am trying to do possible?

well yes, provided your upload capacity is big enough. You are trying to send a (partial) DVB Transportstream, which needs quite some bandwidth...

The upload capacity on the servers internet connection is 512Kb max. UK upload sucks, but will this be enough?

 

I dont think so, what do you think?

forget it. you need at least constant 10 mbit upload from the source server (depending on the channel you want to stream).

Maybe you should take a look at the web interface and the (transcoded) streaming with the help of vlc 0.8.6 or at the recording service (which uses vlc for streaming also)

Thanks for the info. I have got the web interface working but do not see any options for transcoded streaming w/ vlc 0.8.6, am i missing something obvious?
